Confession of an Economic Hitman

This is a controversial memoir in which the author, John Perkins, claims to have been an "economic hit man," an agent for the U.S. government who works to manipulate foreign leaders and countries into debt and dependence on the United States. He describes how he and others used fraudulent financial reports, inflated forecasts, and political pressure to convince developing countries to accept huge loans for infrastructure projects, ultimately leaving them in a cycle of debt.
