A Passage to India

Set in the 1920s in British colonial India, the novel explores the complex relationships between the native Indians and their British rulers. The story revolves around an Englishwoman, Adela Quested, and her visit to the Marabar Caves, where a mysterious incident occurs. Her subsequent accusation against Dr. Aziz, an Indian physician, creates a social and legal crisis that puts the town on edge and exposes the deep-seated prejudices and cultural misunderstandings that divide the two societies.
